About Us

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. My goal for Fly-Ops is to combine my military experience with my life-long passion for fly fishing. Growing up in the mountains of Montana, I spent my time ranching, snowboarding, hiking, and fishing. I realized early on that fly fishing for me was more religion than hobby.

After spending nine years in the Navy I found it difficult to find a place in the “real world” where I could apply the skills I had acquired. Once I got back on the river, I realized I had developed a completely new mindset. I found fly fishing to be the challenge and adventure I longed for. I enjoy teaching what I know about this art almost as much as learning it from my river guide friends.  I have found myself humbled on the river many times, but that’s the beauty and adventure of learning.

Fly fishing for me is very dynamic, challenging, and relaxing. The inherent skill of casting demands patience, experience, and a good understanding of fish and their environment.  Fly fishing heals wounds you never knew you had. If you don’t catch a fish you can still breathe easy, because at the end of the day you’re standing in a river surrounded by mountains with no distractions.
